Today at Stamford Bridge, Manchester City defeated Chelsea four to two in the English Premiere League. This was an important win for City who is trying to remain in the top four. The top 4 teams at the end of the season in the EPL play in the European Champions League next summer. Carlos Tevas scored two goals while two Chelsea players Juliano Belletti and Michael Ballack were sent off. This game had more than just title implications. This was the first game between now-rivals Wayne Bridge and John Terry. Recently, John Terry admitted to having an affair with Wayne Bridge's wife and mother of his child Vanessa Perroncel. Bridge, before the game started, declined to shake Terry's hand. Terry was dismissed as the England captain earlier this month because of the scandal. I have played soccer my entire life and in college I played wing back just like Bridge. The relationship between the center back and wing backs is very important. There is a lot of communication, strategy and trust that goes into playing on the back line. I am not surprised that Bridge will decline a call up to the England squad for the 2010 World Cup. This scandal is just what England didn't need going into the tournament. The United States will play England in the first game for both nations on June 12th in Rustenburg, South Africa.
